ONE DIRECTION (1D)

  Assalamualaikum and a very good day to everyone!! So this is my 3rd entry and i would like to introduce yall to my another favourite musician, called the One Direction. Enjoy,

  History started at 2010. In a singing competition, named The X Factor. There participated by Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Loius Tomlinson as solo candidates for the British televised singing competition. Unlucky, they were all failed at the bootcamp stage of the competition, but later was put into a group of five-piece  boy band. Thus, successfully qualified for the ‘groups’ category. The idea of putting them together was by Simon Cowell, a well known judge in talent competition and Nicole Scherzinger, a guest judge. The group got together for two weeks and came up with the name ‘One Direction’ by Harry Styles, which is leader of the group. One Direction singed acoustic version of ‘Torn’ as their  first song together and was praised by judges positively. There, One Direction quickly gained popularity in the UK. The boy band won third place in the competition and not long after that, their first album ‘Forever Young’ was released.

    For six years, the group had won nearly 200 awards including Brit Awards, MTV Video Awards, American Music Awards and Teen Choice Awards. Embarked on 4 World tours, they are well known and famous around  the world. One Direction was the first ever boy band to have their first four albums debut at number one and ‘ Midnight Memories’ was their best-selling album with 4 million copes sold worldwide. In 2014, they have named the Artist of the year by Billboard.

  Sadly, One Direction went on hiatus in January 2016. Rumors said that it was because of Zayn Malik’s departing from the group in 2015.  Until now, nobody actually knew the reason behind the boy band hiatus. So after the band’s hiatus, all members went to persue other projects and some had even realeased their own solo and formed their new group. News updated that they were still contacting each other and went to their members performance so its still good. As of 2017, the band had totally sold total of 50 million records worldwide.
