On the 1st day of deepavali,early morning Hindus are said to apply oil on their head to toe and take an oil bath which is said to was away all the negative vibrations and the sins which is done unintentionally.After having the bath,they will wear their traditional attire which is the Veshti and Jippa for the men and Saree for the women.Later on,the family gather together and pray to lord for good health and wealth.The younger people will usually take blessings from the elder people.

The best part of the day is eating the sweets and traditional cookies which are all homemade.The famous traditional cookies fror deepavali is murukku,achi murukku,nei urundei and etc.There will be mostly an open house session on deepavali day for th neighbours to visit and try the traditional cookie.This will help in enhancing the bondage between people.the first image below is achi murukku and followed by the murukku which are both made by rice flour,green beans powder and more items
